216th District Court

Due to flooding at the Kerr County Courthouse, the 216th District Court has announced the following schedule and venues for this week:

Monday, Aug. 17 -- Grand Jury in Kerrville Municipal Court facility, 365 Clearwater Paseo in Kerrville.
Civil dockets in Gillespie County
Tuesday, Aug. 18 -- No Court
Wednesday, Aug. 19 -- Kerr Contested Criminal Court - 9 a.m. at the JP #2 Courtroom, 400 Clearwater Paseo in Kerrville, and CPS Court at 9 a.m. at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX 27 in Kerrville, in Classroom #101.
Thursday, Aug. 20 -- 9 a.m. at the JP #2 Courtroom, 400 Clearwater Paseo in Kerrville
Friday, Aug. 21 -- Gillespie County

198th District Court

Monday through Thursday, Aug. 17-20 -- Bandera County
Friday, Aug. 21 -- 9 a.m. at the JP #2 Courtroom, 400 Clearwater Paseo in Kerrville

Official Orders Designating Alternate Court Locations

6th Administrative Judicial Regional Judge Kirsten B. Cohoon has signed the following order, which paves the way for alternate court locations since the Kerr County Courthouse is closed due to damage from flooding.

The District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction of Texas. The geographical area served by each court is established by the Legislature, but each county must be served by at least one District Court. In sparsely populated areas of the State, several counties may be served by a single District Court, while an urban county may be served by many District Courts.

District Courts have original jurisdiction in felony criminal cases, divorce cases, cases involving title to land, election contest cases and civil matters in which the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more.
