Kerr County VSO sets temporary changes to walk-in clients
The Kerr County Veterans Service Office (VSO) has announced a temporary change to its walk-in service. The change, due to minimal staffing, will be in effect for the week of Nov. 16-20. Walk-in service will be unavailable during that time. Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, Nov. 23.
“It is important to know that veterans and their dependents or caregivers who have a scheduled appointment during that week will still be seen as planned, unless contacted directly by our office regarding a change,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our veterans, their families and the community as our staff of two works through temporary limitations,” she added.
The Kerr County VSO office is located in Suite 107 at the Allie Burton Annex, 550 Earl Garrett Street in Kerrville. Manned by VSO Jenna Sanchez and Assistant VSO Chase Allsup, the office’s primary purpose is to provide assistance to local veterans, their dependents and their survivors as they navigate complex federal and state benefits programs.
Providing their expertise absolutely free of charge, they help qualified individuals know which benefits are available to them, how to go about filing the proper paperwork to claim those benefits and, if necessary, how to go through the appeals process.
Each year, the local office helps between 400 and 500 veterans and their family members.
