Elm Pass Road work to cause motorist delays
Work is being done on Elm Pass Road that will temporarily cause some brief delays over the coming week to motorists southeast of Center Point, according to Kerr County Road and Bridge.
The project includes reconstructing three different sections of Elm Pass Road, including:
From near FM 480 to Verde Creek Drive
Verde Creek Bridge to the 1200 block of Elm Pass Road, and,
Sanders Way to Scott Drive (just past the Elm Pass Volunteer Fire Department)
The work is necessary because the substructure of Elm Pass Road was showing damage in those areas. To correct the problem spots, Kerr County Road and Bridge crewmen had to remove the road’s surface so that they could re-compact/repair the substructure. The newly reworked sections will be topped by two courses of chipseal.
The first section listed – from near FM 480 to Verde Creek Drive – will remain exposed with a dirt surface until the other two areas are done. There is no set completion date for it yet.
The stretches of road from Verde Creek Bridge to the 1200 block of Elm Pass Road and from Sanders Way to Scott Drive are expected to receive the first coat of chipseal before April 1.
While that work is being performed over the coming days, drivers can expect 10- to 15-minute delays.
Understanding that this may pose an inconvenience to some traveling through or living in the area, Kerr County Road and Bridge leaders said they appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation.
After all three sections have received their first coat of surfacing, the county workers will then proceed with applying a second course of chipseal.
Once this project is finished, only minor maintenance is anticipated on that road for the next 8-10 years.
